Into modern Canadian passenger trains? This Rapido Trains VIA HEP2 coach, in VIA Rail (HEP2 scheme) colors, nails the look of VIA Rail's rebuilt fleet.

What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. VIA Rail's HEP2 cars are former Budd stainless-steel cars — originally built for Canadian Pacific and its train “The Canadian” (1955) — extensively rebuilt in VIA's second Head-End Power program (HEP2). The rebuild gave them all-new windows, new body skirts and a modern HEP underframe. This model represents an economy-class coach in the blue HEP2 scheme. Rapido faithfully reproduces the fluting, 41-NDO-11 trucks, D22 brake rigging and multi-color interior. Track-powered interior lighting, sprung diaphragms and metal Macdonald-Cartier knuckle couplers: it is all here.
