Looking for a caboose to bring up the rear of your trains? The Rapido Trains D&RGW End-Cupola Steel caboose, in Denver & Rio Grande Western (black as-built) colors, is exactly that kind of standout piece.
What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. The Denver & Rio Grande Western built 91 of these steel cabooses at its Burnham Shops in Denver between 1940 and 1959, numbered 01400 to 01490. Most had riveted steel bodies (the last 21 welded), an end cupola and an arched roof, on a Duryea cushion underframe. This version reproduces the black as-built scheme, with white ladders and grab irons. Rapido faithfully reproduces the riveted carbody, end cupola, trucks and multicolor interior. Working lighting, etched-metal platforms and correct-height couplers: it is all here.
