What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. The LRC locomotive — for “Light, Rapid, Comfortable” — was developed by Bombardier and Montreal Locomotive Works and delivered from 1980 to 1984 in two subclasses, LRC-2 (21 units) and LRC-3 (10 units). Two units (#38 and #39) were leased by Amtrak and trialed on the Northeast Corridor from 1980 to 1982 before returning to Bombardier and then VIA Rail. Rapido faithfully reproduces the carbody, grilles and version-specific detailing. An ESU LokSound V5 decoder, a MoPower keep-alive system and a full lighting package: it is all here.
