Into modern Canadian passenger trains? The Rapido Trains MLW LRC locomotive, in VIA Rail (as delivered) colors, nails the look of these aerodynamic Quebec City–Windsor Corridor machines.

What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. The LRC locomotive — for “Light, Rapid, Comfortable” — was developed by Bombardier and Montreal Locomotive Works and delivered from 1980 to 1984 in two subclasses, LRC-2 (21 units) and LRC-3 (10 units). Built for fast running on the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, it hauled VIA Rail's tilting-carbody trainsets until the last examples were retired in December 2001. Rapido faithfully reproduces the carbody, grilles and version-specific detailing. An ESU LokSound V5 decoder, a MoPower keep-alive system and a full lighting package: it is all here.

Features

  • MLW LRC locomotive, HO scale
  • VIA Rail (as delivered) livery
  • Remastered sounds recorded from the preserved LRC 6921 locomotive
