Prototype Information:

The HR-616s were 6 axle, 3000hp diesel-electric locomotives built by Bombardier Transportation in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1982. Twenty of these locomotives were built, all for the Canadian National Railway (CN). These locomotives were the first to incorporate a design that would be later known as the ‘Draper Taper’ - a full-width cowl body plus a tapered section immediately behind the cab for better rearward visibility. Other spotting features and specifications closely resemble earlier Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) diesel locomotives, of which Bombardier inherited the designs through the acquisition of MLW in 1975. All units were retired in the late 1990s and none survive today.

General Model Features:

·       First ever mass-produced, ready-to-run HO scale model of the BBD HR-616 locomotive!

·       Canadian National Class MF-30c (Later: MF-32a)

·       Accurately designed from various prototype resources.

·       Highly detailed, injection-moulded plastic shell.

·       Precise painting and decoration.

·       Ditch light variations per paint scheme: Round / Square / No ditch lights.

·       Large array of separately applied details: windshield wipers, grab irons, handrails, steps and ladders, lift rings, bell, horn, winterization hatch and screen, radiator screens, mirrors, sunshades, plow, MU hoses, train line hose, coupler cut lever, sanding lines, handbrake chain, fuel tank and underbody cables and piping.

·       Our often imitated, never duplicated HO locomotive trucks design incorporating traction motor detail, traction motor contour, separately applied brake details and rotating roller-bearing end caps.

·       All LED lighting*: headlights, ditch lights (where applicable), number boards, tri-colour class lights, step lights, ground lights.

·       Powerful motor and reliable drive mechanism guarantees smooth operation.

·       All-wheel power pickup and all-axle drive.

·       Heavy die-cast chassis.

·       NMRA RP-25 wheel contour with Code 110 tread width.

·       22” radius curves recommended.

·       Additional product features to be determined / announced as the project progresses.

DCC / Sound Version Features:

·       DCC sound decoder installed in model.

·       Accurate V16 251 prime mover, horn, bell & additional sounds
