Looking for a finely detailed covered hopper to move flour, starch or sugar on your layout? The ScaleTrains GATC 4180 Airslide, in its premium Rivet Counter line, in Staley – GACX (#47783-47787) colors, is exactly that kind of standout piece.

In 1963, GATC introduced the 4180-cubic-foot Airslide covered hopper. Built for shippers of commodities such as flour, starch and sugar, this two-bay car has ten round loading hatches and four outlets. Its patented "Airslide" system blows pressurized air through a special fabric lining to fluidize the load and ease unloading.

This version recreates cars leased to A. E. Staley (corn starch and syrup), under GACX marks, road numbers 47783 and 47787.

  • GATC 4180 cu ft Airslide covered hopper (two bays, ten round hatches, four outlets, Phase HC)
