Worried about dead spots or pesky yard ladder switches?
With its unique design, the LokSound 5 DCC Direct with integrated PowerPack easily replaces boards that provide poor motor control, low volume, or generally inferior sound. It is a pure DCC decoder made for the North American and Australian markets, with the ESU PowerPack built right into it.
Features
- Pure DCC decoder made for the North American and Australian markets; supports RailComPlus and can also be used on DC layouts
- Size of 0.67 x 2.72 inch / 17 x 69 mm; fits in almost all of the popular North American and Australian H0 manufacturers' locomotives
- In DCC format: 14 to 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions
- RailComPlus®: decoders log on fully automatically to a suitable digital central unit
- Masters all DCC programming modes; thanks to RailCom®, CV values on the main track can be read out with suitable control panels; auxiliary registers for panels that can only program CVs 1-255
- Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage; automatic ABC shuttle for commuting between two stations; can also be used on analog DC tracks
- Plays up to 10 sound channels simultaneously, each resolved with up to 16 bit / 31250 kHz, for hi-fi quality
- Class D audio power amplifier with up to 3W output, for speakers between 4 ohms and 32 ohms impedance
- Huge 128 Mbit sound storage
- Volume of each individual sound can be adjusted separately; super-flexible sound engine without a rigid schedule
- Three separately adjustable braking functions and two alternative load scenarios
- Depending on the interface version, 10 amplified function outputs; tons of lighting effects, brightness of each output can be set separately
- Carries over many of the most popular features of the LokSound Select and LokSound V4 generation, including the Full Throttle features and the famous Drive Hold
- Variably adjustable PWM clock frequency of 10 kHz to 50 kHz for super-quiet operation, especially with bell-armature motors
- Load control adaptable to difficult cases with up to 10 CVs, and automatic calibration of the decoder to the motor with the unique "Auto Tune" function
- Delivers up to 1.5A motor current, enough for older engines
- Integrated PowerPack with 1 Farad energy storage: powers all light and motor functions as well as the sound module, letting the locomotive keep moving for up to three seconds subject to the model's energy consumption
- Charging circuit controlled by the decoder: no need to disconnect it during programming, unlike some non-ESU "keep-alive" devices; charging current is limited to avoid an undue load on the booster
- Works fine with most factory-installed speakers, and sounds even better with the 11 x 15 mm "sugar cube" speaker and sound enclosure kits
- Please note that LokSound decoders ship without a preloaded sound file (they are blank)
- If you do not have a LokProgrammer interface, we can load the sound file of your choice onto your decoder at no additional charge
- You have two options: tell us what model of locomotive you have (e.g., EMD SD40-2, MLW M630) and we will select the right file for you, or give us the item number (e.g., S0821) of the sound file you want from the ESU website
- To let us know your choice, add a note in the "Comments" section when entering your payment details at checkout, or send an email referencing your order number to info@modelebt.com
- To listen to the sound samples and choose your file: LokSound sound files for North American and Australian locomotives or LokSound sound files for European locomotives
- You can also purchase an ESU LokProgrammer interface; it is not required for regular programming (address, CVs, etc.) of ESU decoders
- Made by ESU
