The CF7 is Santa Fe's own rebuild: between 1970 and 1978, its Cleburne, Texas shops rebuilt 233 EMD F7 road units into hood-type switching and branch-line locomotives. This model represents a round-cab CF7, retaining the rounded cab roof of the former F7. Amtrak used former CF7s as switchers. Sold over the years to numerous short lines, Amtrak and others, the CF7s enjoyed a remarkably long career. Rapido faithfully reproduces the hood, cab and version-specific detailing.
