Stretch your VIA-era Tempo consist: this Rapido Trains Hawker Siddeley Tempo Coach wears the VIA scheme — silver body with blue and yellow stripes, carrying the transition-era CN and VIA marks — and comes in three road numbers.

What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. Built by Hawker Siddeley in 1968 for CN's intercity services, the Tempo fleet consisted of Coaches, Snack Coaches, Cafe-Bar-Lounges and Club cars. Equipped with Head End Power (HEP) — a first at the time — they required a locomotive with a HEP generator. Passed on to VIA Rail in the late 1970s, the cars then enjoyed a surprising second career: re-equipping the famous Rio Grande Ski Train from 1988, then returning to Canada on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train after CN bought them back. The model features a full multi-colour interior with individually installed seats, track-powered “Easy-Peasy” interior lighting operated by magnetic wand (included), and a fully detailed underbody.

Features

  • Hawker Siddeley Tempo Coach in HO scale, VIA scheme (CN-VIA marks)
  • Road numbers offered: 362, 369 and 375
  • Perfect companion to the VIA Tempo 3-car sets
