Looking for the ideal carrier car for your piggyback trailers, with a truly Canadian pedigree? The Rapido Trains Vancouver Iron Works piggyback flatcar in Canadian National colors is exactly that essential piece. Purpose-built for TOFC (trailer-on-flatcar) service, it handles both 26' trailers and longer ones, up to the 45' standard — enough to carry every Can-Car and Trailmobile trailer in your collection. Shorter than 89' TOFC flatcars, it also negotiates tighter curves, a plus for many layouts.

What sets this model apart is the prototype fidelity Rapido is known for. Drawn from original blueprints, it recreates one of the 283 cars Canadian National ordered from Vancouver Iron and Engineering Works (VIEW), delivered starting in 1966 and in service into the late 1980s. Heavy die-cast center sill, photo-etched deck, wire grab irons, and two styles of hitches (upright or collapsed) installable by the modeler: everything is there for a realistic, weighty car, ready to run, alone or in long intermodal cuts.

Features

  • Vancouver Iron Works (VIEW) piggyback (TOFC) flatcar
