Looking for a modern boxcar — a staple of today's rails — but with a paint scheme that stands out and tells a story? This ScaleTrains Trinity 7500 high-cube boxcar, in its GATX/LRS "Save The Monarch" livery, is exactly that kind of piece. The 60' high-cube boxcar is a mainstay of North American railroading: originally designed to shuttle auto parts and appliances, today it hauls everything from lumber and steel to beer and appliances, and shows up on nearly every manifest freight. Its special monarch-butterfly scheme makes it an instant eye-catcher on your layout — and a great conversation starter.

ScaleTrains recreates this car under its premium Rivet Counter brand, a mark of detail taken to the extreme. Since the late 1990s, Trinity has built over 10,000 60' Plate F boxcars in countless variations of doors, roofs, underframes, and side posts. To capture that diversity, the model features road-number- and era-specific details: five side-post variations, two horizontal stiffener types, seven different doors, five unique end styles, five underframe variations, ten roof patterns, and two truck options depending on the prototype. The Laurinburg & Southern GATX deliveries stood out for their three rows of horizontal stiffeners — a detail faithfully reproduced here. Ready to run and finely detailed, this model brings your modern trains the realism ScaleTrains is known for.

Features:

  • HO scale (1:87)
  • Trinity 60' 7500 8' double-plug-door high-cube boxcar (Plate F)
  • GATX/LRS (Laurinburg & Southern) "Save The Monarch" livery with conspicuity stripes
  • Road-number- and era-specific details (side posts, doors, ends, underframe, roof)

  • Highly detailed ASF Motion Control 110-ton trucks with rotating Timken bearing caps
  • Truck-mounted brake beams and side-bearing detail

  • Ready-to-run (RTR)

  • Recommended radius: 24" (61 cm)
  • Ideal for modern-era manifest freight trains (2000s to today)
