BNSF celebrates the 250th: the GE ES44ACM by ScaleTrains' Rivet Counter line recreates BNSF's three commemorative “America 250” units, renumbered 250, 1776 and 2026, in their brand-new patriotic scheme.
What sets this model apart is Rivet Counter's signature prototype fidelity. In 2002, GE released the first GEVO, the series destined to replace the AC4400CW and Dash 9 and meet EPA emissions standards; powered by the GEVO-12 engine, the ES44 has become the best-selling diesel locomotive of all time. BNSF's ES44ACMs (3282-3381 series, built January 2026) are new-build ES44ACH units, the “H” denoting heavy ballasting for increased tractive effort. Former BNSF 3379-3381 were renumbered 250, 1776 and 2026 to mark the United States' 250th anniversary.
This DCC and sound version comes with a factory-installed ESU LokSound 5 decoder with Full Throttle and all the prototype-specific detailing the Rivet Counter line is known for.
