The Liberty Bell on rails: Norfolk Southern EMD SD70IAC #1776 “The Bell”, by ScaleTrains' Rivet Counter line, wears the commemorative “America 250” scheme — silver body, sweeping red, white and blue stripes and the Liberty Bell on the long hood.
What sets this model apart is Rivet Counter's signature prototype fidelity. Introduced by EMD in spring 2003, the SD70ACe is recognizable by its squared-off cab, angular hood profile, large flared radiator and tapered dynamic brake section; its 16-710G3C-T2 prime mover produces 4,300 to 4,500 hp, and over 2,700 units have been built since 2005. The SD70IAC is the version in service on Norfolk Southern (1175-1225 series, built November 2018 to May 2019); #1776, former NS 1192, was renumbered and repainted in 2026 for the United States' 250th anniversary.
This DCC and sound version comes with a factory-installed ESU LokSound 5 decoder with Full Throttle and all the prototype-specific detailing the Rivet Counter line is known for.
