Where are you located and what are your opening hours?
Modèle B.T. is located at 303 rue Hériot, in downtown Drummondville, Quebec, near the railway line. The store is open Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we receive customers by appointment. The store is closed Sunday and Monday. What scales and brands do you carry?
In model railroading, Modèle B.T. works exclusively in HO scale (1:87). Our inventory comprises more than 5,000 products: locomotives and rolling stock from Rapido Trains, Atlas, Bowser, ScaleTrains and Walthers, Woodland Scenics scenery materials, track, DCC systems, paints and tools. We also carry plastic model kits, specialized publications, puzzles and slot car racing sets.
Do you install DCC decoders, sound and lighting?
Yes. We install DCC decoders, sound decoders and lighting systems in locomotives, and we advise you on the decoder suited to your model and your command system. Basic programming is carried out in our workshop so that the locomotive is operational upon delivery. Labour is billed at $60 per hour, in 15-minute increments; the cost of the decoder is added according to the model selected.
Do you repair and service rolling stock?
Yes, primarily in HO scale. Our work covers motor problems, electrical pickup faults, coupler replacement and preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication and adjustments). Labour is billed at $60 per hour, in 15-minute increments: only the time actually spent on your model is charged.
Do you buy used equipment and offer consignment?
We offer both options. Modèle B.T. purchases used equipment and also offers consignment sales, subject to a 30% commission on the sale price, with no additional fees. Bring your locomotives, cars and accessories to the store: we will carry out the appraisal with you and recommend the most advantageous option.
Is it possible to order a product that is not in stock?
Yes. Items not held in our inventory can be ordered from our suppliers. Contact us at (819) 850-6205 or at info@modelebt.com, specifying the part number or a description of the product, and we will verify availability as well as the expected lead time.
What are your shipping destinations?
We ship throughout Canada and the United States via Purolator or Canada Post, at rates calculated according to weight and destination. Shipping to Europe and Oceania is offered at a flat rate. In-store pickup is also available; orders are ready within 24 hours.
May I test a locomotive in the store before purchasing?
Yes. Upon request, we will run the locomotive you are considering so that you may assess its sound and performance before proceeding with the purchase.
