Rapido F40PH
Introduced in 1976 by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division for Amtrak, the F40PH defined the modern North American passenger train: a turbocharged EMD 645E3 V16, a full carbody and a head-end power alternator to heat, light and air-condition the cars. Amtrak, VIA, Metra, MBTA, Caltrain, NJ Transit, Metro-North and Metrolink all adopted it, and many units are still running fifty years later. Rapido reproduces the 2026 run in HO scale with an ESU LokSound DCC and sound decoder factory-installed and the MoPower capacitor system. Every version offered here is DCC and sound. Pre-order.
