Modeling Canadian railroads and looking for a distinctly local covered hopper? The Atlas slab-side covered hopper in Canadian National colors was a common sight on Canadian and U.S. rails into the late 1990s. Born from a Canadian Pacific concept of the late 1940s — a 70-ton, 3,000 cu ft car with smooth welded sides and interior bracing — it hauled grain, malt, sugar, cement, and even sand.

This Atlas Master Line model recreates a car built from 1950 to 1964 by National Steel Car, Canadian Car & Foundry, Marine Industries, and Montreal Locomotive Works. An injection-molded plastic body, appropriate trucks with metal wheels, body-mounted AccuMate knuckle couplers, and accurate decoration round out a realistic, ready-to-run hopper.
