Built by General Motors Diesel in London, Ontario, the 3,000 hp SD40-2W was the wide-cab ("Canadian comfort cab") version of the SD40-2 delivered to Canadian National, a mainstay of Canadian mainline trains for decades.

This ready-to-run model carries Bowser's Executive-level detail: operating headlight, finely applied details (air hoses, windshield wipers, grab irons, coupler lift bars, window glass) and road-specific fuel tanks, a can motor with dual flywheels, "Nickel Silver" RP25 wheels and knuckle couplers. The DC version has a 21-pin socket for adding DCC; the sound version comes with an ESU LokSound V5 decoder.
