What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. The CF7 is Santa Fe's own rebuild: between 1970 and 1978, its Cleburne, Texas shops rebuilt 233 EMD F7 road units into hood-type switching and branch-line locomotives. This model represents a round-cab CF7, retaining the rounded cab roof of the former F7. This version reproduces Santa Fe's blue scheme with a fine yellow pinstripe. Sold over the years to numerous short lines, Amtrak and others, the CF7s enjoyed a remarkably long career. Rapido faithfully reproduces the hood, cab and version-specific detailing.
