Into North American diesel-era railroading? This Rapido Trains CF7 locomotive, in painted (un-numbered) colors, nails the look of these rugged Santa Fe rebuilds.
What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. The CF7 is Santa Fe's own rebuild: between 1970 and 1978, its Cleburne, Texas shops rebuilt 233 EMD F7 road units into hood-type switching and branch-line locomotives. This model represents a square-cab CF7, fitted with the new angular cab used on the later rebuilds. This version is painted but un-numbered, ready for your own lettering. Sold over the years to numerous short lines, Amtrak and others, the CF7s enjoyed a remarkably long career. Rapido faithfully reproduces the hood, cab and version-specific detailing. An ESU LokSound V5 sound decoder, five-pole motor, functional lighting and numerous separately applied metal details: it is all here.
