Into classic Canadian passenger trains? This Rapido Trains CC&F Balloon-Top coach, in CN Engineering #40102 colors, nails the look of these round-roofed Canadian National cars.

What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. These round-roofed “balloon top” day coaches were built by Canadian Car & Foundry (CC&F) in 1937 (an initial batch of 50 cars, #5180–5229), followed by 25 more in 1942. Nicknamed “Canadian Flyers,” they rode on six-wheel Commonwealth trucks and enjoyed a long career: transferred to VIA Rail in 1978, the last car (#5186) ran until 1996. This version reproduces a car converted to CN engineering service. Rapido faithfully reproduces the rounded roof, trucks and multi-color interior. Track-powered interior lighting, sprung diaphragms and a fully detailed underframe: it is all here.
