Looking for a boxcar with character and a link to railroad history? The Rapido Trains PC&F 5241 cu.ft. boxcar, in Union Pacific (BKTY) colors, is exactly that kind of piece. Under BKTY reporting marks, these cars are often seen in beer service from Mexico, traffic that sends them across the continent, frequently patched over the old Berlin Mills scheme. Nicknamed the "Berlin Mills Boxcar" after the iconic scheme of its largest order, this car stands out with its uncommon flat roof and large end ribs — a unique look amid the sea of late-1970s IPD boxcars.

What sets this model apart is Rapido's signature prototype fidelity. Scaled from measurements and photos of the real 5,241 cu.ft. Pacific Car & Foundry car, it reproduces a 50-foot exterior-post boxcar built in 1979, at the end of the "Incentive Per Diem" era. Of the 799 cars produced, New Hampshire shortline Berlin Mills Railway leased 399 — the largest order. Factory-applied painted wire grab irons, a fully detailed underframe, roller-bearing trucks and turned metal wheels: everything is here for a realistic, ready-to-run car.
