Dreaming of a West Coast 4-8-4 at the head of your train? ScaleTrains' GS-6 4-8-4 steam locomotive in their Fox Valley Models line, in Southern Pacific/Non-Skirted/As-Preserved paint, reproduces one of the handsomest American machines.
Ordered in wartime, the ten GS-6s delivered by Lima in 1943 were stripped-down "General Service" 4-8-4s: no full skirting and no Daylight livery, the War Production Board allowing only the essentials. Assigned to mixed service, they ended their careers in black; #4460 is preserved today.
